A Grand Lake Shopping District SOS

SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESSES
THAT CONTINUE TO SUPPORT YOU

The Lakeshore Business Improvement District and the Splash Pad News have joined forces in order to best inform our neighbors as to what resources are currently available while also assisting the locally-owned, Grand Lake businesses we value so highly. Please note that the two lists that are linked below include the following information:

  • Restaurants, cafes, and bakeries that are offering takeout and/or delivery services
  • Retail shops offering online ordering and delivery services
  • Gift cards for friends, family or for yourself that will help individual businesses survive

These lists are being updated regularly. For corrections and additions please email: info@splashpad.org or  kira@lakeshoreavenue.com.

Please also follow us on social media: Lakeshore BID Facebook; Splash Pad Facebook; Lakeshore BID Instagram.

  2. Hey Ken! Thank you so much for providing this service to the local community. Although Panorama Framing, at 3350 Grand Ave. is closed until April 7, or whenever Alameda County sounds the all-clear, we encourage folks to stock up on gift certificates. Once we swing the door open, we’ll be ready to help everyone frame up all the cool photos and art they created during the zombie apocalypse.

Starbucks on Lakeshore was closed today (Sun Mar 22). No ETA on reopening.

    1. Ken Katz Avatar

Priscilla, That’s been in the news the last day or two. They are closing almost their locations in the US for two weeks but they’ve agreed to pay those employees for 30 days. My guess is that they’re unlikely to reopen anytime soon. BTW: The only locations that are remaining open have drive-thru windows and also locations near hospitals where the need is going to be greatest. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-03-20/starbucks-closes-most-stores-in-u-s-and-canada-for-two-weeks

  4. Thank you, Ken and Kira, for providing a valuable resource. We’ve been sending the link to this article to customers who’ve reached out to us with questions about the survival of neighborhood businesses. This Splashpad Park article is also featured on our website’s “Neighborhood” page and on our Facebook page.
    Well done!

Thank you so much for compiling this wonderful resource! We would like to also make sure that our neighborhood pizzeria and coffee shop are included in this list of small business resources available in our rich and vibrant neighborhood. Haddon Hill Cafe and Leaning Tower of Haddon Hill on Brooklyn just off of Lakeshore have consolidated into the pizza spot and for the time being, they are serving coffee drinks, fresh croissants, and fresh baked bread every morning — and (delicious) pizzas, of course. We rely on these shops year-round and want to make sure they are still here for us in the weeks and months to come! 510-444-6824

    1. Ken Katz Avatar

I know that both businesses are huge assets to Haddon Hill but they’re more than a bit beyond our original geographic limits. Since Kira and I are having a hard time keeping up with updates, I’m going to say “No” for the time being but would highly recommend sending your suggestion to the manager of the Oakland Chamber of Commerce at officemanager@oaklandchamber.com. The Chamber’s Spreadsheet is city-wide and very well-done.
