Dear Neighbors,
As I promised from the very beginning when we met at our first community meeting back on February 9, 2017, I want to keep you informed on the status of the Lake House Development Team’s progress on the 601 MacArthur project. I was hoping that this email would provide some good news. Alas, that is not the case. As many of you know, we appeared before the Planning Commission and were asked to go before the Design Review Committee. The Planning Commission preferred our original drawings of the project over the Planning department’s recommended drawings. The Planning department asked that we resubmit our drawings, which we did. However, they could not write their report that was needed to go before the City Council within our investors’ deadline. So our project has now been terminated. In defense of the Planning department, I want to say they are sorely short staffed and overworked.
On behalf of our team, I want to extend our thanks to the community members who participated in our meetings and let us know their feelings and thoughts about the project. We valued your input and took your suggestions to heart.
I know there are other developers looking at the property but I don’t have full details on who they are or what they have planned. If I do learn anything more definitive I will let you know.
Thank you again for your cooperation and for caring so much about your community. I’ve enjoyed working with you all!
Warm regards,
Valerie A. Camarda
