July 4, Monday, 1-3pm *In Person* Oakland Municipal Band. A Selection of Patriotic Music. Location: Lakeside Park, Edoff Memorial Bandstand. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Please note that Grand Avenue will be closed to traffic between MacArthur and Bellevue Avenues.

July 9, 10am-1pm *In Person* Oakland Heritage Alliance Walking Tour. Amelia’s Airport: Oakland’s Historic North Field. Old Oakland Airport (North Field) was dedicated by Charles Lindbergh and often visited by Amelia Earhart. One of the nation’s most historic aviation sites, its original facilities—five hangers, an administration building, and a hotel, built between 1927 and 1929—are largely intact. July 10, Sunday, 10am-1pm *In Person* Oakland Heritage Alliance Walking Tour. Frederick Law Olmstead and Mountain View Cemetery. The history of Oakland’s earlier cemeteries, as well as an upfront look at Mountain View’s residents and design. This year marks the 200th birth of the cemetery’s designer, Frederick Law Olmsted. July 16, Saturday, 10am-1pm *In Person*  Oakland Heritage Alliance Walking Tour. F.M. “Borax” Smith’s  Estate. Visit the site of Arbor Villa, Francis Marion “Borax” Smith’s palatial estate. Smith founded an international industry (“20-Mule Team Borax”), established the Key Route System, and became one of Oakland’s most famous, colorful entrepreneurs. Read more and register here.

Bonnie Lewkowicz and Judith Smith will share their experiences as wheelchair-using birders and will be joined by Tiffany Taylor, a birder who is blind. July 2022 Splash Pad News Calendar of the Month

Colgate has been in business since 1806 and this mini pocket calendar was printed as an advertising giveaway for the 1890 calendar year.

Sheila McCormick is an Adjunct Professor Emerita in Cal’s Department of Plant and Microbial Biology. Prior to her retirement in January 2016, she had a research lab at the USDA/ARS-UC-Berkeley Plant Gene Expression Center in Albany, studying the molecular biology of plant reproduction. She also helps with editing and is a frequent contributor to the Splash Pad News, beginning with a series of seven neighborhood walks – the first of which was posted in April 2017.
