Neighborhood residents, Lucy and Randy Glover have proposed a 14 by 70 foot mural at the southern end of the City of Oakland parking lot between Grand and Walker Avenues in Oakland’s Grand Lake neighborhood. The mural, which will feature the Grand Lake Farmers Market at Splash Pad Park with the Grand Lake Theater looming in the background, will both beautify our community and support local art.  The muralist, Stefen, is a local artist who recently painted the mural in the Trader Joe’s parking lot on Lakeshore, as well as many others in the East Bay. As residents of the adjacent condo, the Glovers are seeking $6,000 in donations to make their dream a reality.

When outstanding pledges are added to the cash in hand, Lucy and Randy have exceeded their initial goal and donations are no longer being accepted.  They are very grateful for the outpouring of support and ask that you stay tuned for an announcement about an unveiling party.

Agricultural Institute of Marin: $500 – AIM manages the Grand Lake Farmers Market where everyone is welcome and where access to CalFresh is actively encouraged.

Lin Jia Asian Kitchen: $500 – Oakland-based Chinese restaurant presenting family-style, market-fresh fare in a contemporary dining space.

Grand Lake Veterinary Hospital – $500 – The Grand Lake Veterinary Hospital is dedicated to providing the highest level of veterinary medicine along with friendly, compassionate service.  The doctors and staff are a group of highly trained, experienced animal lovers who are devoted to giving our patients the best care possible.

Ruth Stroup Insurance – $500 – Over 11 years of experience as a Farmers Insurance agent with deep roots in Oakland. Serving Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville, Albany, and Piedmont neighborhoods.

Ken Betts – $500 – Long-time member of the Lakeshore BID and owner of Ken Betts Towing and the Chevron Gas Station.

City of Oakland Parking Partners – $500 – Working under contract to the City of Oakland to provide ongoing maintenance services for all our off-street parking lots.
