
by Ken Katz – The current hot topic on Grand Avenue is a proposal by the Ohana Cannabis Company to open a dispensary at 3838 Grand, next door to One Medical. A city administrative hearing on Ohana’s application took place on October 24. Despite limited meeting notifications, fifteen individuals spoke in opposition and two in support. Several weeks later, the Grand Lake Neighbors meeting on November 16 featured a presentation by Ohana’s President, Nasser Azimi, and three other company executives. In an email submitted the next day to Nancy Marcus in the City Administrator’s office, David Roe, a long-time Walker Avenue resident who lives directly behind the proposed site, shared the concerns neighbors expressed at that meeting. Splash Pad Park – Volunteer Work Day Sunday December 18
This month’s Grand Crew volunteer work day will be on the third Sunday — not the fourth. Mary Jo has half a dozen California Natives that need to be planted plus there’s always weeds to pull and shrubs to prune. At noon, we’ll be celebrating all the upcoming holidays with sparkling beverages, Mary Jo’s fresh baked cookies and Arizmendi Pizza. Hours are 9-noon.
