Ruth Stroup Insurance will be hosting an artist’s reception for Stephen Bruce whose unique acid paintings on copper have been widely featured on TV and in motion pictures. Snacks and beverages will be served.
Alchemy Bottle Shop‘s second-floor gallery is featuring a new show of colorful, abstract paintings by Therese Chevedden. She and her husband Jake are partners in the Mosswood Whiskey distillery based in Berkeley.
Panorama Framing is hosting an opening night artist’s reception for an exhibit of recent paintings by Jon Steven Walters entitled, “Persistence of Vision: The Sequel”. Complimentary beverages, refreshments and live music provided by Kim Lembo.
Clausen House (650 Grand) has been providing incredibly valuable services to the Oakland community for fifty years and as part of their 50th Anniversary Celebration they are providing a First Thursdays venue for the very first time – although Clausen House artwork was shown at Panorama Framing in January . On the 7th, all artwork will be for sale plus there will be refreshments, door prizes, a silent auction and a raffle. For future reference, Patrick Cheatham will be hosting shows of Clausen House artwork each January.
The Libertine has an ongoing show of extremely tasteful nude photographs by Josh Stevenson.
San Francisco Fiber will be teaching the fine art of spinning wool under the guidance of Kate Colwell.
510 Brand‘s walls are literally covered with paintings by shop employees including Culling Cahayag, Nina Simi, and Natasha Reh – supplemented with a handful of original drawings by Connor Burke, who works next door at Modigliani. Several of the artists will be working at their easels and a DJ will be providing background music. Complimentary beverages and snacks will be served.
